    Vital services to keep running during lockdown

    We will keep vital services running during lockdown but people must play their part by following the Government’s rules to curb the spread of coronavirus, the county council announced today.

    Norfolk County Council has released the list of services that will continue to be delivered, face-to-face, in line with the Government’s guidelines. Others will move online or be suspended during lockdown, to help curb the spread of the virus by reducing social contact.

    Council leader Councillor Andrew Proctor said: “We are committed to protect Norfolk and to return to the lower level, tier one rules, as soon as the latest national restrictions end.
    “Over the next month, we will continue to support vulnerable people and keep schools, public transport and recycling sites operating.

    “National guidance means we will have to temporarily close libraries, museums and some other services. Where possible, some aspects of these services will be available online.
    “If we all continue to follow the rules, we can drive down the spread of Covid and return to the lowest level of restrictions next month.”

    The following will continue as face-to-face services throughout the next month:
    Social care visits and support for vulnerable people – children, families and adults

    • Home care
    • Schools
    • School crossing patrols
    • Household waste and recycling centres
    • Registration of births (registration of deaths will continue by phone)
    • Bus and park and ride services for key workers and school pupils
    • Fire and rescue services

    The following will cease face-to-face services and, where appropriate, will offer some elements online:

    • Museums
    • Libraries
    • Weddings
    • Classroom-based adult learning

    Further details about specific elements of adults’ and children’s services will be outlined to service users.
    The council will continue to monitor its services and, if regulations and circumstances change, it will review its current plans.

    The Mobile Libraries are back out on the road with safety measures currently in place for both staff and visitors.

    Currently:

    • there will only be 1 person or household (of up to 3 people) aboard at a time
    • please bring your library card with you or join in the library or online
    • we may ask for details from you to help with Test and Trace
    • you will need to wear a face covering in the library
    • hand sanitiser is available for use on the way in and out of the library
    • surfaces and computers will be regularly wiped down
    • returned books will be quarantined for 72 hours

    TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION ORDER 2020
    Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 Section 14(1)
     

    ORDER prohibiting the use by vehicles of the C385 Loddon Road from its junction with the U76354 Church Road for a distance of 120 metres westwards in the PARISH OF NORTON SUBCOURSE

    1. Save as provided in Article 2 of this Order and whereas the Norfolk County Council as Traffic Authority for the Administrative County of Norfolk is satisfied that:-
    • (i) Anglian Water new connection works are required at the C385 Loddon Road from its junction with the U76354 Church Road for a distance of 120 metres westwards in the PARISH OF NORTON SUBCOURSE (hereinafter referred to as the said road) and:
    • that in consequence traffic over the said road should be prohibited with effect from 13th October 2020 to 15th October 2020 for the duration of the works expected to be about 3 days within the period.
    1. Nothing in Article 1 of this Order shall make it unlawful for a vehicle which requires access, to proceed to a final destination situated within the length of road specified in Article 1 of this Order.
    1. This Order has a maximum duration of 18 months and will be revoked upon completion of the works. Where exceptional circumstances are encountered during the performance of the works specified in this Order the operational period of this Order may become extended to allow completion of the works after obtaining consent of the Secretary of State.

     

    NOW THEREFORE the Norfolk County Council DO HEREBY ORDER, that with effect from 13th October 2020 to 15th October 2020 for the duration of the works the said road SHALL NOT BE USED by any class of vehicle.
