News From Thurlton Parish Council

Good news regarding the polling station. Both the Parish Council and South Norfolk Council’s Electoral Services supported the use of the village hall as a polling station to avoid Thurlton parishioners having to travel to Haddiscoe to vote. This recommendation was accepted by the Electoral Arrangements Review Committee on September 4 and should be implemented in time for the next election.

The various changes in parish clerk personnel coupled with a number of technical issues have meant that the parish website – thurlton.norfolkparishes.gov.uk – has not been updated this year with details of agendae, minutes, councillors and financial statements. We have now resolved the technical problems and will be looking to upload all the relevant documents in the near future. Current copies of the agenda and minutes of the parish council meetings are always posted on the council noticeboard opposite the village shop.

Further technical issues also caused problems for the council’s email address but we are pleased to report that our email address of [email protected] is now fully operational. You can contact our parish clerk, Gill Crossland, on this email address or by phoning her on 07795 102946.

Although there has been limited progress on the repair of the village sign and its brick plinth, the work is still scheduled to be completed later this year thanks to the generosity of Richard Attoe and his builders.

The Norton, Thurlton and Thorpe Good Neighbour Scheme has now been operational for seven years and we would like to place on record our appreciation of the hard work by all the volunteers. The scheme is much valued and is holding its AGM on October 21 @ 2pm in Norton Chapel when you can find out about its activities and how it might be able to help you…if you need a lift to the chapel you can always call the Good Neighbour Scheme on 075555 16188.

And finally…for our much loved and respected former parish clerk, Chris Cook, the Parish Council has placed a plaque on the bench in the grounds at the top of Links Way in memory of both Chris and his wife, Anne.
